A few days ago I had an appointment with a new primary care physician who did quite a double-take when she saw the age on my chart. She told me that I have the energy, physical and mental health of a 35-year old…(she was off by almost 25!) I’m still smiling! Want to know my secrets to looking and feeling younger? Try these tips:
Let go of the limitations you unconsciously place on yourself: We think hundreds of thoughts all day long without being conscious of most (or all!) of them. The more you practice conscious thinking, the easier and more effortless it becomes. You can accept your current age without the expectations that many of us have that we won’t be able to do what we did in the past. What are you saying and believing that might not be true? Could it be time to challenge some of your assumptions?
Fuel your body with kindness: We truly are what we eat (and drink!). Focus on whole foods whenever possible; fresh local fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and organic meats. Drink at least eight large glasses of purified water daily and more during warm weather and when exercising. And get out and MOVE! Schedule it in each day as a non-negotiable. Care for your body and it will last longer! I love to make a smoothie for breakfast (well, after my morning run or hike) with fresh fruit, Greek yogurt and freshly ground flax seeds. I add greens such as fresh mint, cilantro and arugula, some cinnamon and stevia. Start your day right and you’ll feel happy and energized all day long.
Surround yourself with positive and healthy people: The beliefs you hold, the thoughts you think and how you fuel your body are influenced by the company you keep. Take a look at those with whom you spend your time. Are they supportive, kind, thoughtful and full of joy? Or are they cranky, complaining of aches and pains and doing nothing about it…wallowing in their misery? Does it feel good to be around them or do they drag you down and sap your energy? Hmmm…consider shifting what you are doing and you’ll attract like-minded individuals.
This week, I challenge you to explore the ways you can be ON PURPOSE. Not doing so no longer serves you. Consider what steps you can take to support yourself and then implement them! What’s holding you back?
Hope this has energized you to get some shifting started! Please share your questions and comments below. I’d love to support you in any way that I can. Perhaps you’d like more clarity on all this? Schedule a free 30-minute consultation. Your new life awaits!
